As the First Born sits with his newfound surrogate daughter, he begins to remember the day in which he helped his youngest sister escape from the House of Stone. As guardian of their borders, no one is allowed in or out of their country, under penalty of death.

One night, when his sister was eight years old, she came to his room with severe lacerations across her face. Their father had laid his hands on her, and as she fought back, he had cut her face in spite.

Knowing that she would surely be killed, he resolved to send her away to a safe place far south.

Upon sending her away, he lost the last shred of humanity and feeling, becoming mute and resigning to take his place as his father's warrior prince.

This might be my favourite of Heilung. They've improved a bit on their later releases but their debut is still much meaner, and darker. Maria's amazing voice obviously steals the show but I also quite like Kai's too, especially on the live performance. In fact I'd say get LIFA over this IMO. The spoken word bits are really cool to hear proto-germanic in use but for relistening purposes they are going to be a bit obtrusive. Nevertheless the proper music here is on continual repeat for me.
